Wicklow Gaol: A Step too far? So an article in The Evening Herald sees Wicklow Gaol claiming to have contacted the spirit of former Irish President Erskine Childers. Now I've spent many nights in Wicklow Gaol over the last 5 years and this is the first mention I've heard of the former Leader yet it seems now he spent a night in the Gaol? This claim has caused a bit of fuss with people saying its a step too far. Coincidentally this happens at the same time as the most important election in Ireland's recent history and the timing is making people see it as nothing but a poor attempt to boost numbers of visitors to the museum. Here is what some people had to say:

"There is a line between an entertainment paranormal tour and blatantly offensive statements regarding deceased Irish statesmen and making a mockery of the location & history. I'm slightly offended by the use of Irish presidents to increase spooky tours for private profit. Slightly sickened by this actually. Send in the OPW and get rid of this tat. I think the Gaol might be pushing it a bit here to keep visitor figures up."

"Having one of our Presidents perform card tricks to bring in some extra punters .... disgusting."
